Both start with the same welded 316L diaphragm and piezoresistive cell. The transmitter adds the electronics that make the signal survive distance, noise and integration: loop power, 4–20 mA conditioning and digital communication.

4–20 mA Two-Wire

The industrial standard. Loop-powered over two wires, immune to cable voltage drop and electrical noise. Every PLC and DCS on the market reads it.

4–20 mA + HART

Digital FSK communication superimposed on the same two wires. Change range, re-zero, read diagnostics and configure the transmitter remotely without touching it.

Questions Buyers Ask

What is the difference between a pressure transmitter and a pressure transducer?

A transducer produces a signal proportional to pressure — typically voltage or a simple 4–20 mA. A transmitter is a transducer plus a loop-powered conditioner that outputs 4–20 mA with digital communication (HART or RS485), so readings survive long cable runs and integrate with plant systems. Which output is best for remote monitoring?

For a single sensor on a long loop, 4–20 mA two-wire is the proven choice. When you need range changes, diagnostics or multi-device bussing, step up to HART or RS485 Modbus — both are supported on the PT200 series.

What does HART give me over plain 4–20 mA?

HART superimposes a digital signal on the analog loop, so you keep the 4–20 mA for your PLC while gaining remote range change, re-zeroing, diagnostics and multi-drop capability over the same two wires.

What is the difference between 2-wire and 3-wire?

A 2-wire transmitter is loop-powered: power and signal share the same pair, which simplifies cabling and suits long runs. A 3-wire (voltage output) unit has a separate power supply and is best for short, machine-internal runs.

Can I get an explosion-proof transmitter?

Yes — the PT200 series offers an optional explosion-proof housing (Ex) with IP67 protection, suited to hazardous-area installations. Specify your zone and certification requirement when requesting a quote.

Can transmitters be calibrated to my exact range?

Yes. Spans are factory-configured to your working point, and HART / RS485 transmitters also allow remote range reconfiguration in the field without opening the housing.
